POLICE GIVE FAMILIES OF FALLEN OFFICERS N1.6 BILLION

Financial help for the families of seven hundred and twenty-seven (727) personnel who died has been released by the Nigeria Police Force.

Inspector-General of Police Olukayode Egbetokun gave the bereaved relatives a cheque for N1.6 billion.

As part of the Nigeria Police Force’s Group Life Assurance Policy, this cash support represents the insurance claim for the deceased officers for the years 2018/2019, 2021/2022, and 2022/2023.

According to Egbetokun, the Nigeria Police are showing their gratitude by performing this kind deed in remembrance of the departed heroes. He stated that since taking office in 2023, this payment is the fifth time.

The current police leadership’s unwavering dedication to the welfare of officers and their families, particularly those who have given their lives in the line of duty, is demonstrated by this step, according to Egbetokun.

He assured those serving that they will always have the backing of the country and the army.

“Today, we are poised to distribute cheques across five distinct categories, reflecting our diverse commitment to the beneficiaries.

“The first category comprises cheques amounting to N55.8 million for 311 beneficiaries, representing the remaining 5% balance of the Group Life Assurance Policy payments, Batches 9 and 10, for the 2021/2022 insurance year.

“The second category includes cheques totalling N761.5 million for 178 beneficiaries, representing 90% of the Group Life Assurance policy payments, Batches 15 and 17 for the 2021/2022 insurance year,” he said.

The head of police continued by saying that the third category consisted of a N567.5 million check that paid for 100% of the Group Life Assurance policy for 78 beneficiaries for Batch 9 of the 2022–2023 insurance year.

The fourth category, according to the police Inspector General, had checks totaling N96.9 million that were given to 86 recipients. During the insurance year 2018–2019, this payment accounted for 32% of the total Group Life Assurance policy payment for Batch 5.

He added that one check totaling N113.2 million was included in the final category. For the policy year 2022–2023, this payment satisfied the whole balance owed to 149 beneficiaries, including batches 6 and 7.
