Operatives of the Kebbi State Police Command have gunned down a suspected bandit during a fierce exchange of fire following an attack on Kwagware village in Arewa Local Government Area.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Abubakar, confirmed the incident in a statement on Thursday, revealing that the armed gang stormed the community on Wednesday, November 5, stealing an undisclosed number of cows and robbing residents of their mobile phones.

Abubakar said police operatives from the Yeldu Division, working with local vigilantes, chased the fleeing attackers and engaged them in a gun battle, killing one suspect while others escaped with gunshot wounds.

He added that an unregistered Boxer motorcycle was set ablaze by residents, while a Tecno mobile phone was recovered from the scene.

The police spokesperson further noted that additional tactical units, military personnel, and vigilantes had been deployed to the area to restore order and forestall further attacks.

Commending the operatives for their swift response, the Commissioner of Police, Bello M. Sani, urged them to sustain the crackdown on criminal gangs across the state.
