Joseph Agabaidu, a 500-level geology student at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, was tragically stabbed while trying to take back his girlfriend’s handbag from armed bandits, according to information released by the Bauchi State Police Command.

The girlfriend’s handbag was taken by the armed thieves, according to the police, which resulted in the terrible clash.

In a statement signed by Public Relations Officer Ahmed Wakil and provided to the media on Wednesday, the police stated that their attempts to find the culprits are still in progress.

The statement says as follows: “In his office at the State Command Headquarters, Commissioner of Police Bauchi State Command, CP Auwal Mohammed, welcomed the leadership of two student bodies (NUBAS and SUG) in the audience.

“The recent event on December 2, 2023, with some unidentified individuals stealing a purse carrying a mobile phone belonging to a woman, Philomena Ahobee (28), a student at Abubakar Tatari Polytechnic, Bauchi, was the impetus for their visits.

Because of this, her boyfriend, 28-year-old Agbaidu Joseph of Anguwan Ngas, a student at Bauchi’s Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, attempted to assist her in getting the purse holding the phone. He was wounded with a sharp knife on the left side of his chest by the attacker(s).

“A doctor declared the victim dead while he was being admitted to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital in Bauchi, despite the fact that he was brought there for treatment.”

Recall that last weekend, during an attempted phone theft, the final-year student met his terrible end when he was brutally stabbed by armed thieves.

The event took place in his Yelwa resort, located in a Bauchi neighborhood, at about 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.

The passing of a fellow student alarmed the ATBU students, who on Monday organized a nonviolent demonstration.

However, as members of the Nigeria Police Force shot tear gas at the students who were protesting, chaos broke out at the Yelwa Campus in Bauchi.

As a result, the police broke up the demonstration by posing armored tanks in front of the school gate.
