Three AK-47 rifles were found and recovered by operations of the Bauchi State Police Command in the Tudun Wada neighborhood of Liman Katagum, Bauchi Local Government Area.
One LAR rifle, 49 7.62mm rounds, nine AK47 magazines, one pair of police camouflage pants, and one pair of army camouflage jackets were also found.
This information was revealed in a statement made available to journalists in the state on Sunday by the command’s public relations officer, Ahmed Wakil.
The recoveries, according to Wakil, a superintendent of police, were made during an operation that was conducted on Sunday in response to an intelligence report.
He claimed that Liman Katagum, the Divisional Police Officer, was in charge of the Operation.
He said: “Operators attached to the command acted on credible intelligence and uncovered an armoury of suspected kidnappers in its recent sustained operations, which, in recent days, recorded tremendous successes by denying miscreants a breathing space to carry out their nefarious activities.
A patrol team from the Liman Katagum Divisional Police headquarters, led by the DPO, went on patrol around the Tudun Wada neighborhood in Liman Katagum, Bauchi LGA, on January 22, 2023.
The result was the discovery of an underground armory, which led to the recovery of the following items: three AK-47 rifles, one LAR rifle, 49 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, nine AK-47 magazines, one set of army camouflage jackets, and one set of police camouflage trousers.
Wakil claimed that Aminu Alhassan, the State’s Commissioner of Police, ordered 24-hour surveillance of the area in an effort to apprehend the evading criminals while also praising the agents.
