The suspect, who works for Bliss Legacy Limited, a real estate company in Benin City, was detained together with two others, Esther Anthony and Ukpebor Joel.
The command’s spokesperson, Chidi Nwabuzor, revealed that Blessing Ogunu allegedly faked her own arrest and sought an N4.8 million ransom for her release.
According to him, the Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber Crime Unit received a complaint from one Samuel Prince Omomuzo of No. 102 Ihama Road, GRA, Benin City, who reported that one Blessing Ogunu, a staff member of Bliss Legacy Limited, Benin City, was kidnapped in Benin and the kidnappers demanded a ransom of N4.8 million.
During interrogation, the alleged Blessing Ogunu admitted to masterminding her own abduction due to her company’s refusal to allocate land to a customer from whom they had received money.
