POLICE IN KANO DETAIN 85 ALLEGED POLITICAL PARTY MEMBERS AND FIND WEAPONS.

According to the Kano State Police Command, its agents have detained 85 individuals who belong to various political parties and have seized various caches of lethal objects and charms.

On behalf of the Commissioner of Police in charge of the 2023 general elections, Mr. Muhammad Yakubu, stated in a statement made public on Friday that: “On 22/02/2023 reports were received that, three (3) Political Parties namely, the All Progressive Congress (APC), People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), planned to hold political rallies/pr actions.

When the complaints were received, the Kano State Command’s commissioner of police for the general election in 2023 considered the probability of confrontations and attacks on innocent bystanders.

In order to break the deadlock, CP Muhammad Yakubu promptly called an emergency conference with the representatives of the three major parties. However, their planned rallies and processesions did not make any progress.

The All Progressive Congress (APC), People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and New Nigeria People’s Party organized protests and processions across Kano city on Thursday, and these events led to the arrest (NNPP).
