The police commands in Oyo and Ogun states have reaffirmed their dedication to purging the two states and their surrounding areas of undesirable criminal groups.
Adebowale Williams, the commissioner of police for Oyo State, and Lanre Bankole, his counterpart for Ogun State, made the pledge yesterday in an effort to proactively prevent future criminal activity along the Lagos/Ibadan expressway.
The strategic assessment patrol and eventual asset deployment around the troubled areas were started by both commissioners.
According to Adebowale, “Consequent upon the foregoing, the security architecture of both Commands were also purposefully remodeled with cooperation from adjacent states Police Commands to deal decisively with criminal elements whose mindset is to use both states as a criminal haven after being ousted.
“In light of the foregoing, the good people of Oyo State are advised not to panic or become agitated as adequate deployment of tactical and operation assets would be seen swarming the axis and embarking on; joint intelligence-led surveillance, aggressive patrols with neighboring states, combing of forests alongside local hunters and vigilantes, and permanent visibility policing measures intensified along the busy highways.”
Furthermore, “adequate security measures are in place, and users of the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway are encouraged to go about their daily activities without any form of fear of molestation or harassment from unscrupulous elements.”

Adams pleads the government, “Let us flush out bandits.”
In the meantime, the Aare Onakakanfo of Yoruba land, Gani Adams, has urged the governors of Oyo, Ogun, and Lagos, Seyi Makinde, Dapo Abiodun, and Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to support the newly formed Oodua People’s Congress, OPC, team and the South-West Security Stakeholders Group, SSSG, in their efforts to flush out kidnappers and bandits operating
In a statement issued by his special assistant for media, Kehinde Aderemi, Aare Adams expressed worry about the frequent assaults on travelers using the roads.
He claimed that since the police had broken their earlier promises to provide adequate security along the road, it is important to ask the governors to give the OPC, Amotekun, and other security organizations like the Hunters, Vigilante, COMSAIC, and Isokan Oodua permission to clear terrorists from the bushes. These organizations work under the supervision of the SSSG.
Adams expressed concern about the recent increase in insecurity along the route and said that the best way out of the mess is to let the OPC fight for the return of calm along the road.
The Lagos-Ibadan Expressway has seen an unusual increase in kidnapping cases, he claimed.
According to the information I have, there are now more terrorists and kidnappers hiding out in Sapade, a town that is 62 kilometers from Ibadan.
“Kidnappers are currently enjoying a field day, despite the fact that it is clear that the police were powerless to change the situation.
“The situation is out of control, and I think the three governors of Oyo, Ogun, and Lagos should permit us to flush the robbers out of their hiding spot.”
