The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested seven suspected cultists linked to a brutal assault, armed robbery, and possession of a human skull.
Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, confirmed the arrests in a statement issued in Uyo on Monday, disclosing that the suspects were apprehended on August 28, 2025.
The operation followed a report filed three days earlier by a student of Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua. The student alleged that members of the proscribed Ku Klux Klans Confraternity ambushed and attacked him along Ikot Osurua, leaving him unconscious with deep injuries. His Redmi 13C Android phone and ₦41,000 cash were also stolen.
Recovered from the suspects were a fresh human skull, a locally made short gun, seven live cartridges, and bottles containing suspected ritual substances, including black oil and Guyanese oil.
The arrested suspects were identified as Douglas Ambe Esikhene, Stephen Asukwo Effiong, Saviour Dany Akpan, Emmanuel Friday Umoh, Augustine Uduak Okon, Mary Ating Asukwo, and Itohowo Christopher Uko.
DSP John assured that investigations are ongoing, with more arrests and recoveries expected as police intensify their crackdown on cult groups in the state.
