On Wednesday, Lagos State Police Command has embarked on a patrol of flashpoints and other areas as part of efforts to check insecurity in the state.

A convoy of vehicles moved through Apongbon, Eko Bridge, CMS, Marina, and environs on Wednesday.

The exercise, which commenced on Monday, seeks to reassure residents of the command’s determination to protect lives, property, and maintain law and order.

Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu had directed increased surveillance across Lagos.

The command appealed to members of the public to cooperate with the police officers involved in the monitoring.

Many have been victims of attacks in the gridlock, morning hours and late evening/night, an avenue to perpetrate crime.

Among the worst-hit are workers who rely on public transport as companies fail to provide staff buses while management staff moves about in expensive vehicles and police escort.

The police said the ongoing patrol and surveillance will be sustained throughout the ’ember months’ period.
