The Nigeria Police will identify and punish a female police orderly who was seen carrying a bag for Hajia Titi Abubakar, the wife of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, at an event, according to the Police Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.

In a photo that is currently spreading on social media, the unnamed police officer is seen supporting the presidential candidate’s wife as she gave a speech on Wednesday at the launch of the PDP’s “SHE” project, a women’s empowerment program.

A Twitter user named @ Fify ify bemoaned the image and criticized the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Ben Hundeyin, claiming that it is unethical for a police officer to engage in such activities while wearing a uniform because it may interfere with the performance of their primary duty.

She wrote on Twitter, “Why won’t the police forget their basic responsibility and merely dance to the tune of the elites when a private individual may turn our uniform force member into her maid? Is this how it’s supposed to be, @BenHundeyin?

The Police Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, shared the message in response and strongly denounced the behavior.

He claims that the behavior is not only abhorrent but also illogical because it violates police ethics. The police orderly is being sought out, he continued, and charges will be filed against her right away.

“This is not acceptable,” he wrote. We have already started taking the appropriate steps. We’ll find her and tell the principal about her. To help us locate the woman and get her to the police, we have contacted the AIG Special Protection Unit. We’ll sanitize the system gradually.

This is ludicrous and is decried in its entirety. “How can an orderly be carrying a bag for her madam? I’m sure the madam will have a PA, and that is the PA’s responsibility.”

A Twitter user, however, begged with the police to not take the situation seriously. This isn’t too much egbon, so don’t take it lightly, haba. Tweeted by @ Ismail jmk38.

The PPRO retorted that although it may not signify much to those outside of the police force, it is a severe problem for the police and that the appropriate steps must be done to end it. The present police administration is serious about reforming the system, he continued, so that feeling won’t be employed while addressing the problem.

“To us at the police department, it’s an absurdity and shouldn’t go on. It might not seem serious to you, but to us, it is for a variety of reasons, some of which you are also aware of. If we’re really serious about reforming anything, we don’t need any sentiment.

“My brother, it’s bad practice for an orderly to carry a bag for her boss, and it’s even worse when the boss isn’t a service police officer. In the event that she is attacked, how will she protect herself? ire o, he continued.
