- Embattled singer denies allegations, pleads for associates’ release
- Sister claims he is under a spiritual spell
- Court grants co-defendants N5m bail, adjourns case till March 17
Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has called on President Bola Tinubu to wade into his ongoing legal tussle with the Ogun State government.
The controversial artist, who is reportedly on the run, was arraigned alongside nine associates for allegedly assaulting officials from the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.
In her ruling on Thursday, Magistrate O.M. Somefun granted bail to Portable’s co-defendants, setting the sum at N5 million each, with sureties who are licensed bond agents registered with the state. The case was adjourned till March 17 for hearing.
From an undisclosed location, Portable denied the allegations and pleaded for the release of his associates.
Reacting to the case, his eldest sister, Gbemisola, alleged that the singer was acting under the influence of a spiritual spell cast by one of their uncles.
Meanwhile, in a viral video posted on social media on Tuesday, Portable made a public appeal to President Tinubu, urging him to intervene by speaking with Governor Dapo Abiodun to grant him pardon.
“President Tinubu, may you never mourn over your children. Please help me beg Dapo Abiodun for forgiveness. Federal government liability is a government child. I be government pikin; please help me beg the governor to consider me as one of his children,” he pleaded.
