Controversial Habeeb Okikiola, better known by his stage name Portable, a singer from Nigeria, has expressed regret about being left out of the Renewed Hope Concert that took place on Thursday at the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
No fewer than 46 musicians, including many of the biggest names in the music business, took the stage during the performance, including Buju, Waje, Brymo, Fireboy, Kaycee, Asake, Timaya, Pasuma, Naira Marley, Tony Tetuila, and Seyi Vibes.
The celebration was conducted in honor of Bola Tinubu, the president-elect, and Kashim Shetimma, who would serve as his vice president.
The Zazzoo singer said on social media that despite openly supporting Tinubu, he was not included among the artists.
They have torn me, he declared. When I used to shout, “Akwe [There is] Tinubu,” people would make fun of me. However, I kept posting it.
Portable claimed that none of the performers at the event actively promoted the president-elect and ran campaigns on his behalf like he did.
Uncle Tinubu, they did not post you, he remarked. The ones that battled for you were us. In Lagos and everywhere else, we fought for you.
However, Portable conceded that the president-elect may have considered him to perform through the event organizers, but some middlemen disqualified him.
