Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, better known as Portable, has controversially declared that he is a “mad man” receiving treatment at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta, following a declaration from the Ogun State Police that he is wanted in connection with a violent incident.

Portable’s remarks were made during a series of rants on Instagram on Tuesday, after he was accused of assaulting three officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development. The officials, TPL Onabanjo Abidemi, TPL Raymond Lateef, and TPL Ridwan Oyero Akinlesi, were reportedly conducting an enforcement exercise at Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu Ota, Ogun State, when they encountered an elderly man, later identified as Portable’s father, at a local bar.

Upon requesting the approved building plan, the father allegedly informed the officials that his son was unavailable. However, Portable soon appeared on the scene, armed with a firearm and accompanied by a gang of nine thugs. The police claim that the singer and his associates attacked the officials, who sustained injuries before managing to escape and report the incident to the authorities. Despite nine arrests, Portable fled and has since been on the run.

In response to the police’s declaration, Portable denied the charges and claimed that he was being set up, citing his attire featuring the face of Senator Adeola Solomon (known as Yayi) as a possible reason for the attack. He further claimed that he is a “federal government liability” due to his mental health condition, revealing that he is a patient at Aro Hospital.

Portable emphasized that he is not a criminal, instead portraying himself as someone who helps people regardless of their background. He appealed to Nigerians and Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun for understanding, asserting that his mental health challenges should be considered in the unfolding situation.
