  • Singer Faces Five-Count Charge, Pleads Not Guilty
  • Magistrate Warns Against Social Media Outbursts
  • Case Adjourned to March 5th

Controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, was granted bail on Thursday by Magistrate O.L. Oke of the Ogun State Magistrate Court in Isabo, Abeokuta. The court set his bail at ₦2 million with a surety in the same sum.

Portable, who faces a five-count charge, including conspiracy, assault, and possession of weapons, pleaded not guilty. He was arraigned by the Ogun State police command for allegedly attacking three officials of the Ogun Planning and Development Permit Authority (OGPDPA).

The 31-year-old artist, visibly shaken and in tears, appeared before the court after weeks of evading arrest following the detention of his protégés. Nine of his associates had previously been charged with armed violence, felony, obstruction, and intent to kill.

During the hearing, the defense counsel, Oluwatoyin Ayodele, pleaded for bail, emphasizing that Portable remains innocent until proven guilty. She assured the court that he would not abscond.

Magistrate Oke, while granting bail, issued a stern warning: “If you discuss this case on social media, incite trouble, or fail to attend court sessions, you will forfeit your bail.”

When questioned about his mental state, Portable affirmed that he was fit and healthy.

The case was adjourned to March 5.
