Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has evaded police arrest following an alleged assault on his fourth baby mama, actress Ashabi Simple, during a heated confrontation at his bar in Ogun State.

The incident occurred on Thursday, January 1, 2026, when Ashabi visited the singer at the bar, a meeting that quickly degenerated into a physical altercation.

A viral video from the scene showed Ashabi clutching Portable’s clothing as she lamented being repeatedly referred to as his “baby mama,” demanding recognition as his wife. She openly challenged the singer to acknowledge her status beyond motherhood.

Portable reacted aggressively, pushing her aside and insisting that he recognises only one wife, Bewaji, while describing all other women with whom he has children as baby mamas.

“I only have one wife. The rest of you are just baby mamas,” the singer said, a remark that further inflamed the confrontation.

An emotional Ashabi responded, daring him to go as far as killing her if that was his stance, as onlookers watched the exchange spiral.

Following the incident, Ashabi and her siblings reported the matter to the police, accusing Portable of assault, intimidation and abuse.

In a video posted on Instagram, Ashabi alleged that Portable fled before police officers arrived at his residence, where they instead met his pregnant wife, Bewaji. She narrated that the singer invited her to the bar after complaining of being in a bad mood and requested that she bring New Year food for him.

According to her account, the disagreement turned violent shortly after she arrived, with Portable allegedly slapping and beating her, confiscating phones and threatening her and her siblings with an axe.

The incident has triggered widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians criticising Ashabi for allegedly forcing herself into the singer’s personal affairs, while others described her actions as a reflection of low self-esteem.

As of the time of filing this report, Portable has not publicly addressed the allegations, and police authorities are yet to confirm whether formal charges will be filed.
