The Friedkin Group has finalized an agreement with Blue Heaven Holdings for the acquisition of Farhad Moshiri’s majority stake in Everton, as announced by the Premier League club on Monday. This development follows a previous attempt by the Friedkin Group to secure a majority stake in June, which ultimately fell through in July after a period of exclusivity.

In a statement, a Friedkin Group spokesperson expressed satisfaction with the agreement, emphasizing their commitment to becoming responsible custodians of the club. They highlighted their intentions to stabilize Everton and share a vision for its future, including the completion of the new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock.

The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals from the Premier League, the Football Association, and the Financial Conduct Authority. Everton, a nine-time English champion, has struggled in recent seasons, facing relegation battles and reporting significant financial losses of $112.5 million in its latest accounts. The club endured two points deductions last season for breaching financial rules yet managed to maintain its Premier League status.

Currently, Everton sits at 19th place in the Premier League, having earned just one point from five matches. They lost their first four games but drew 1-1 with promoted Leicester City in their latest outing. The team was also eliminated from the EFL Cup after a penalty shootout loss to Southampton. Sean Dyche’s squad will next face Crystal Palace on September 28.
