- President Bola Tinubu has arrived in South Africa to co-chair the 11th session of the Nigeria-South Africa Bi-National Commission.
- He was welcomed by South Africa’s Minister of International Relations, Roland Lamola, and Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu.
- The meeting will focus on key sectors including political relations, consular and migration issues, finance, defense, manufacturing, social matters, energy, and trade.
- Tinubu’s visit follows his recent state trip to France, with the Bi-National Commission session scheduled for December 3.
President Bola Tinubu has arrived in South Africa to co-chair the 11th session of the Nigeria-South Africa Bi-National Commission with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa. The news was confirmed by Frederick Nwabufo, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Engagement, in a brief statement via X on Tuesday.
Upon arrival, President Tinubu was greeted at the airport by Roland Lamola, South Africa’s Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, and Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
The two leaders will discuss a wide array of issues during the session, including political consultations, consular matters, migration, banking and finance, defense, security, manufacturing, the social sector, mining, energy, and trade.
This visit follows President Tinubu’s recent state trip to France. A statement from his Special Adviser, Bayo Onanuga, revealed that Tinubu departed France on Monday, December 2, en route to Cape Town, where a ministerial meeting took place on December 2, 2024, in preparation for the official Bi-National Commission meeting.
