The details of sixteen Nigerian Army officers and soldiers who were recently slain in Delta State were made public by the Defense Headquarters (DHQ), prompting a response from the government on Tuesday.
The identity of the sixteen Nigerian Army officers and soldiers who were slain at the Okuama community in the Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State were made public by the DHQ on Monday.
While on a peace mission at Okuoma community in Delta state, twelve troops, one captain, two majors, and a lieutenant colonel were slain by youths.
According to information obtained, the deceased officers and troops belonged to the Nigerian Army’s 63 Brigade, which was commanded by the 181 Amphibious Battalion’s commanding officer.
The Nigerian Army reacted to a distress call following a clash between the Okuoma and Okoloba villages in the South-South state, and later recovered the corpses of the army officers and troops.
The names and images of the fallen servicemen were made public by the DHQ on Monday night through a post made on its official X account along with a collage of images.
Lt Colonel AH Ali, the commanding officer of the 181 Amphibious Battalion of the Nigerian Army, was among the deceased.
