In order to accommodate Christmas and New Year’s celebrations, President Bola Tinubu has granted a 50% reduction in land transportation rates from December 21 to January 4, 2024, nationwide.
In the same time frame, the President also approved zero fares for train travel throughout the federation’s states.
This was revealed by Mr. Dele Alake, Minister of Solid Minerals Development, during a press conference at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
He claimed that the transportation minister, the transport unions, and the proprietors of luxury buses had worked out all the details of the implementation.
He said, “The goal of this presidential initiative is to provide aid to the general public.” There is evidence that the general public does not use airplanes. The government can still afford to implement this scheme.
