In order to witness the inauguration of Governor Hope Uzodinma for a second term, President Bola Tinubu has left for Owerri, the capital of Imo State.
At approximately 12:20 p.m. on Monday, the President left the presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport in Abuja and headed to the South East State.
Earlier on Monday, the President honored Nigeria’s fallen heroes at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, National Cenotaph in Abuja, along with leaders of the National Assembly, the military forces, and other important stakeholders.
The Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebrations culminated with this event in October, which started with the unveiling of the Remembrance Day emblem.
Among the notable guests were Chief Justice of the Federation Olukayode Ariwoola, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, Minister of Defense Abubakar Badaru, and Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
A minute of silence was held in their memory after Christian and Muslim prayers for the dead heroes’ souls were said throughout the ceremony.
The wreath-laying ceremony was led by President Tinubu and was a moving show of respect and remembering.
Other notable individuals who succeeded him were the CJN, the Speaker of the House, the President of the Senate, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, the Minister of State for Defense, and the Doyen of Nigeria’s Diplomatic Corps.
In addition, the Inspector General of Police and service chiefs alternated in placing wreaths at the monument.
As is customary during military memorials, armed soldiers fired ceremonial volleys during the service.
President Tinubu released white pigeons, which stand for peace, and signed the Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration registration after the wreath-laying.
