A fleet of one hundred electric buses will be deployed, according to President Bola Tinubu, as part of the government’s plans to move the country closer to a more ecologically friendly and sustainable future.

The President made this announcement on December 2, in Dubai, on the sidelines of the COP28 climate summit, while addressing stakeholders and investors about the Nigeria Carbon Market & Electric Buses Rollout Program.

As part of a bigger campaign to position Nigeria and Africa as the leading frontiers of green manufacturing & industrialization, Tinubu declared that the strategic plan intends to upgrade Nigeria’s transport networks and considerably reduce the country’s carbon footprint.

To lead the Nigeria Carbon Market Activation Plan, the President announced the appointment of the Director-General of the National Council on Climate Change and the Executive Chairman of the FIRS as co-chairs.
