Tonye Cole, former APC governorship candidate in Rivers State, has called for a critical review of Nigeria’s presidential system. Speaking during a TV interview, Cole argued that the system is failing to meet the governance needs of the people.

According to Cole, most African countries, including Nigeria, continue to adopt political systems that do not reflect the values or realities of their citizens. He noted that the concentration of power in the presidency is hindering democratic growth and accountability.

He urged leaders and policymakers to consider a more inclusive and participatory structure, suggesting a return to a parliamentary or hybrid system to promote better governance and national development.
