The Ekiti State Police Command paraded Akindele Opeyemi Olufemi, 32, on Tuesday after he reportedly broke into a church’s giving vault and stole more than N600,000.

According to the police, the suspect was apprehended at a “Stop and Search Point” of the Safer Highways of the Command.

Olufemi, who was riding a motorcycle, reportedly initially resisted all police attempts to inspect his backpack.

When the police eventually subdued him, they found numerous denominations of Nigerian currency on him. After he was unable to explain how the money came to be, he was eventually taken into custody.

The money was taken from the Christ Apostolic Church, Camp Ground in Ikeji, Ara-Ikeji, Osun State, according to an investigation, and the suspect was caught.
