The rampaging Fulani militias in the area killed a priest from the Assembly of God Church and two other individuals, bringing tragedy to the Mangu local government area of Plateau State once more.

According to information obtained by The Nigerian Tribune, the militia who had invaded the home of the pastor (name withheld) in Npat village of Kombun District Mangu Local Government to rustle his cattle opened fire inside his compound at around 10:00 on Wednesday.

According to a family source, the militias broke into the deceased compound at around 10:00 p.m. The clergyman who had initially located them came out of his home and took cover somewhere inside, but the militants discovered him and shot him dead.

“In addition to killing him, the militiamen took his animals with them. The clergyman passed away while traveling to the hospital in Mangu town and was later discovered in a pool of his own blood.

Abednego Davou and Elisha Dalyop were shot dead by gunmen, while Patrick Joshua suffered fatal injuries and is currently being treated at the Christian Hospital in Vom. The roving militias have also plunged the residents of Jol and Byei villages in the Riyom local government area of the state into mourning.

The attack was confirmed by Hon. Adams Joshua, a councilor for the Jol ward in the Riyom Local Government Area, who stated it took place at Jol and Byei around 10:00 p.m. when suspected Fulani herders in their numbers attacked the neighborhood and opened fire, leaving two people dead and one injured.

He claimed that after carrying out the vicious attack, the perpetrator vanished, leaving the neighborhood in agony.

DSP Alfred Alabo, the spokesman for the Plateau Police Command, could not be reached on his mobile phone, making attempts to contact him unsuccessful.
