The Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry, and his wife, Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, have arrived at the Nigerian Armed Forces’ Defence Headquarters in Abuja.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived at the DHQ at 12:45 p.m. on Friday to meet with General Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff.

The military high command announced on Thursday that their tour to Nigeria will be centered on connecting with the country’s wounded and injured soldiers and their families.

The military high command invited Prince Harry to visit Nigeria following the country’s debut at the 2023 Invictus Games, which will be hosted in Düsseldorf, Germany.

The Invictus Games, launched by Prince Harry in 2014, is an international multi-sport tournament for wounded, injured, and sick military personnel that provides support, recovery pathways, and rehabilitation following injury.

According to the Director of Sports at Defence Headquarters, Air Vice Marshal Abidemi Marquis, “80 percent” of the nation’s soldiers have participated in the recovery program and “are doing better.”

Marquis stated that part of his tour would include socializing with WIS military soldiers, which will benefit their mental health and self-esteem.

The military high command also aspires to host the Invictus Games in Nigeria, and believes Prince Harry’s visit will help to establish the proposed Invictus Games Centre in Abuja, as well as a collaborative effort with the Foundation to learn more about the recovery programme.

According to Marquis, the center will be established and equipped to provide a comprehensive service for the administration of WIS military troops.

He stated that the proposed centre would also have a medical center and a little hotel for their families during the rehabilitation period, as well as a sporting facility.
