Babatunji Wusu –
Bashir Ahmad, a former presidential adviser, responded to three well-known New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) chieftains switching to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Recall that Senator Sulaiman Hunkuyi, the party’s nominee for governor of Kaduna State, and former National Chairman of the NNPP Rufai Alkali have both defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Bem Angwe, a former NNPP national legal adviser and candidate for governor of Benue State, together with 23 other defectors, have also joined the ruling party.
Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Alkali said that although they left the NNPP, the APC remained the greatest option for them to advance politically. They didn’t join the APC because it is the ruling party.
They were admitted into the APC on Tuesday in the capital city of Abuja by Abdullahi Ganduje, the party’s national chairman.
In response to the news, Ahmad wrote on X that he was glad to see the defectors join the APC, calling it a “great party.”
Professor Rufai Ahmed Alkali, the former national chairman of the NNPP, and Senator Sulaiman Othman Hunkuyi, the NNPP’s candidate in the March 18 governorship election in Kaduna State, have both defected to the governing All Progressives Congress (APC), he wrote. They are invited to our fantastic celebration!
