Femi Otedola, a Nigerian millionaire and businessman, made headlines on social media when he gave 750 Augustine University students in Ilara-Epe, Lagos State, gifts of one million naira per.

At the university’s fifth convocation ceremony on Thursday, the billionaire made the announcement about his donation and took office as chancellor.

Otedola posted photos from the event to Instagram along with a message expressing his hope that the donation will help the pupils during this trying time.

“I was formally inaugurated as the Chancellor of Augustine University today,” he declared. I firmly think that the establishments with which I am affiliated should be transformed.

Thus, in honor of my appointment and in acknowledgment of the challenging economic circumstances facing our nation, I presented a one million dollar gift to each of the seven hundred and fifty students. I hope that this seven hundred and fifty million naira donation would help our students’ parents during this trying period.

Alfred Martins, the Lagos Catholic Archbishop, attended the convocation event.
