According to data supplied by Abuja-based Beacon Security and Intelligence Limited, during the first three months of this year, there were at least 2,583 deaths and 2,164 documented kidnappings.
The data gathered between January and March, which tracked the number of homicides and kidnappings across the country, showed that the North accounted for 81% of killings and 94% of abductions.
The consulting firm’s research stated that on a daily average, 28 people were killed and 24 were kidnapped.
The Nigerian Army Resource Centre in Abuja sponsored its annual lecture series earlier this month, and Minister of Defence Muhammad Badaru Abubakar said that security has improved.
According to data from Beacon Security and Intelligence Limited, there were notable numbers of casualties in several states and zones in Nigeria.
There were reported 793 casualties in the North-West, 681 in the North-East, and 596 in the North-Central parts of the country, mostly as a result of bandit assaults, disputes between farmers and herders, and community violence.
There were 194 killings in the South-West, 161 in the South-South, and 158 in the South-East of the country.
With 517 casualties, Borno suffered the most, followed by Benue (313), Katsina (252) Zamfara (212), and Kaduna (206).
2,164 people were kidnapped during the designated period, with abduction occurrences occurring frequently throughout Nigeria.
With 1,297 incidents in the North West, 421 in the Northeast, and 330 in the North Central, the North West accounted for the majority of abductions.
Fewer abductions were reported in the southern regions: 30 in the South-West, 66 in the South-South, and 20 in the South-East.
With a total of 546 abductions, Kaduna State recorded the greatest number, followed by Zamfara (447), Borno (340), Katsina (252) and the Federal Capital Territory (102).
