Tunji Wusu –

Mary Nkeki, a Chibok girl who is 27 years old and was just rescued by the Nigerian Army, has requested to be reunited with her husband, Mallam Adamu, a former member of Boko Haram.

Insurgents from Boko Haram kidnapped Nkeki together with more than 200 pupils from the Government Girls Secondary School in Chibok in 2014.

On August 14, 2023, soldiers from the 81st Nigerian Army Battalion in the border town of Dikwa, Cameroon, saved her.

Nkeki claimed to have given birth to two children with her husband, but they perished in the Gulumba Forest in Bama from severe acute malnutrition.

Despite being saved, she said she still wished to be with her husband, Adamu, who had already given himself up last week in Dikwa.

“My marriage is still going strong, and I still adore my husband,” she said. I don’t know if they transported him to Maiduguri or if he is still in Dikwa, but I would love to see him again if it is possible,” she said.
