Due to terrorist attacks on the rail lines, operations at the Abuja-Kaduna train station were suspended for eight months before being restored today (Monday).
There were armed police officers at the train station, according to our journalist in Abuja who was there as early as 7am to catch up with the restart of business.
On March 28, 2022, terrorists ambushed the Abuja-Kaduna train, capturing 168 passengers and killing eight more.
Since then, the victims have been released in waves; the final 23 were set free in October.
People carrying luggage and travelling toward the ticket hall to collect boarding passes for the first train due to depart for Rigasa in Kaduna at 9:45 am were observed as events at the Idu rail station were being observed. These people were accompanied by their loved ones.
