Manchester United Vice Chairman, Ed Woodward reportedly backed the players despite their dismal performance against Tottenham Hotspur on Monday night.
The Red Devils fell to a 3-0 defeat in the hands of their league rivals, much to the dismay of most Old Trafford faithfuls as well as their manager, Jose Mourinho who has come under intense criticisms for his team’s performance since the start of the season.
It is understood that Mourinho has been left frustrated by the performances of some of his players amid reports that the club are already looking for replacements for the Portuguese.
According to reports in the Times, Woodward made way to United’s dressing room after the defeat to Spurs on Monday to offer some words of encouragement while also assuring the manager’s of his future.
However, it is believed that some sections of the club’s hierarchy are unhappy with Mourinho’s style of play and might looking elsewhere, although the board are not ready to sack the Portuguese despite recording two consecutive defeats.
The former Chelsea gaffer will hope his players bounce back when they travel to Turf Moor next Sunday to play Burnley in what could be a make or mar game for the coach who recorded his worst defeat in the Premier League last Monday.
