Sa’ad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto and president general of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, has urged Nigerians to prioritize farming as a means to alleviate economic hardship and combat the country’s high cost of living.

The Sultan delivered this message while extending his greetings to Nigerian Muslims on the occasion of Eid-el Kabir. He emphasized the importance of maximizing the current rainy season for agricultural activities to ensure ample food production that meets the nation’s needs.

“We should all return to farming and increase food production, as this will alleviate our circumstances and bolster the country’s economy,” he advised.

Acknowledging efforts by national leaders to address challenges, the Sultan underscored the need for additional measures to alleviate the difficulties faced by people, particularly in the northern region.

“It is essential for leaders to intensify efforts in addressing current challenges,” he stated. He also encouraged Muslims to continue praying for the leaders, noting that prayers play a crucial role in meeting the needs of society.
