An Ex-Senator, Magnus Abe yesterday during a special luncheon held in Port Harcourt to honor members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, a former Senator and best legislator awardee during his time in the Rivers State Assembly, spoke out on key issues facing the state.
Joined by prominent figures from Rivers State, including the Honourable Minister of the FCT, H.E. Nyesom Wike, the former legislator emphasized the importance of following constitutional law. He criticized the Oko-Jumbo Led State House of Assembly, describing it as an attempt by a small group of individuals to manage the state’s resources, asserting that decisions should be made by the entire 27-member Assembly.
“Our constitution does not permit three people to appropriate the state’s resources. The true power lies with the people, and their voice is heard through their elected representatives,” he stated.
He further stressed that the democratic principle of majority rule must always guide governance, urging the Assembly to act as the people’s voice in ensuring accountability in Rivers State.
