Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State declared on Sunday that recent political upheavals were part of a divine plan to establish true “political freedom” for the state. Rather than weakening him, Fubara says the challenges have made him “stronger and bolder” by the day.
Speaking at a thanksgiving service honoring His Royal Majesty, Eze Chike Worlu Wodo, newly appointed Chairman of the Rivers State Traditional Rulers Council, Fubara underscored his belief that the turmoil is driving a new direction for the state under God’s guidance. “What some see as trouble, I view as God’s purpose,” he asserted, adding that he and his team remain steadfast.
The governor’s remarks follow a high-profile dispute with his predecessor, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike, over Rivers State’s political control. Despite the ongoing rivalry, Fubara envisions a legacy built on the “fear of God” and is determined to finish his administration’s work with renewed conviction.
