When it comes to their plans to deal with resource control and restructuring concerns if elected president in 2023, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Senator Ifeanyi Okowa have received praise from a member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Farah Dagogo.
Atiku promised Nigerians that he would prioritize resource control and restructuring during his administration while addressing a meeting with the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) in Lagos earlier this week.
In a statement released on Friday in Port Harcourt, Dagogo claimed that the PDP presidential candidate’s effort had furthered demonstrated why the people of the South-South and other geopolitical regions of the country had supported him and placed their trust in his leadership abilities.
The former PDP candidate for governor of Rivers State described Atiku as dependable and a man of integrity who, over time, consistently followed through on his promises. He added that the former vice president’s restructuring and resource control drive, which encapsulates his five-point development agenda, was consistent with his character and actions.
Okowa, who is also the governor of Delta State, was selected as Atiku’s running mate in a brilliant and masterful move, according to Dagogo.
“Governor Ifeanyi Okowa is not only of Igbo and Niger Delta extraction, he is also one of the brightest minds from the Southern portion of the country,” the federal lawmaker stated.
“The need to confront the restructuring threat and that of resource control, which is crucial for the people of the Niger Delta and other regions of the country with natural resources, is one of the issues that have bedeviled our country in recent years.
“For the first time, we have a candidate running for the top position in the nation who is ready to take on those problems head-on.
He gathered legal experts, working with significant and crucial stakeholders from the various geopolitical zones, to develop the restructure modification law in order to show his dedication and readiness.
“That law is prepared and waiting to be introduced to the 10th National Assembly,”
