Rivers State Administrator Ibok-Ete Ibas has appointed Professor Ibibia Lucky Worika as the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG), effective immediately. In an official statement on Tuesday, Ibas highlighted that Worika was selected following a thorough evaluation of his qualifications, extensive experience, and exceptional performance throughout the selection process.
Professor Worika holds a Ph.D. in International Environmental and Comparative Petroleum Law & Policy from the University of Dundee, UK. His distinguished career spans academia, international organizations, and government advisory roles, making him a well-suited candidate for this position.
Ibas emphasized that the appointment reflects his administration’s commitment to harnessing the expertise of Rivers State’s human capital to foster peace, stability, and security.
Additionally, Ibas announced the resignation of George Nwaeke as the Head of Service (HoS). Acknowledging Nwaeke’s service, he expressed gratitude for his contributions and wished him success in future endeavors.
To ensure continuity, Dr. Mrs. Iyingi Brown, the Permanent Secretary for Welfare in the Office of the Head of Service, has been named Acting HoS until a new appointment is made.
