In a statement issued on Thursday, the Rivers State Ministry of Education condemned the alleged imposition of unauthorised levies on students and their parents.
The ministry said it had begun administrative procedures to establish the facts surrounding the allegations.
It also warned that school administrators found responsible would face disciplinary action under the applicable Public Service Rules.

School Administrators Warned
The ministry reminded principals, headteachers and other school authorities to comply with its approved policies and guidelines.
It said extortion, illegal charges and the exploitation of students and their parents would not be tolerated.
Meanwhile, the ministry urged parents and students to report demands for unauthorised payments through the appropriate channels.
