The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) has fixed August 9, 2025, for fresh Local Government Council elections across the state.

RSIEC Chairman, retired Justice Adolphus Enebeli, declared the date on Wednesday during a stakeholders’ meeting at the commission’s headquarters on Aba Road, Port Harcourt. The event also marked the official release of the 2025 Local Government Elections timetable and guidelines.

Justice Enebeli reaffirmed RSIEC’s unwavering commitment to conducting a free, fair, and credible election, urging political parties to strictly comply with the electoral framework.
