Nollywood actress Rosy Meurer has finally broken her silence amid renewed backlash over her past statements concerning Tonto Dikeh’s failed marriage to Olakunle Churchill, admitting she was pressured into making earlier claims.

The controversy resurfaced just hours after Meurer publicly denied ever knowing, meeting, or having any personal relationship with Tonto Dikeh during her marriage to Churchill. Her statement directly contradicted a previous video where she described both Churchill and Dikeh as “family friends.”

Tonto Dikeh and Olakunle Churchill ended their marriage in 2017 following allegations of infidelity. At the time, Churchill was accused of engaging in an extramarital affair with Meurer, who was widely rumored to be Dikeh’s close friend. Meurer had dismissed the allegations in an earlier video, insisting she was only a family friend and had hung out with the couple before their split.

Four years after the divorce, Meurer married Churchill, a development that ignited fresh controversy across social media platforms. Many critics accused her of snatching her alleged best friend’s husband, an accusation she repeatedly denied.

Addressing the lingering five-year controversy in a new Instagram video on Wednesday, Meurer firmly stated that she never had any relationship with Dikeh in the past. Her latest claim triggered immediate backlash, with critics accusing her of inconsistency and rewriting history.

Responding to the criticism in a lengthy Instagram post, Meurer attributed her earlier statement — where she referred to Churchill and Dikeh as family friends — to pressure from her management team at the time.

According to her, she was young, inexperienced, and overwhelmed by public scrutiny when she made the earlier video. She admitted she felt compelled to say what her public relations team advised, even if it did not reflect her true position.

“You want me to hang on to the nonsense old video I made in fear due to the fact that I was so young and innocent,” she wrote.

“I was dragged into violence by force. With all the pressure then, PR team will make you say many things even if you don’t feel it is right. Right now whatever I say is THE REAL TRUTH. I am now older and wiser. No PR team can force me to say what they believed is better than my truth. If you like, bring videos of 1000 years ago. It does not change my reality.”

Her statement has further fueled conversations online, with supporters praising her for “speaking her truth,” while critics continue to question the shifting narratives surrounding the high-profile marriage saga.
