Andy Ruiz Jr vowed to beat Anthony Joshua again as he arrived in Saudi Arabia ahead of their highly-anticipated heavyweight rematch next week.
The Mexican, who stunned Joshua and snatched his world titles away from him in New York City in June, arrived at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on Tuesday.
Ruiz Jr was all smiles as he made his way through the terminal building as he now steps up his preparations ahead of the fight on December 7.
When asked how he felt about the fight, Ruiz said: ‘It feels good. You know I made history in New York and I’ll make history again in Saudi Arabia.’
After arriving in the early hours of Tuesday, Ruiz Jr will now set up his own training camp to prepare for the fight.
The war of words between the pair has already start with Ruiz Jr claiming this week Joshua’s decision to lose weight ahead of their rematch could be a mistake.
‘I saw videos where he looked slimmer. I don’t know if that’s an advantage or a disadvantage.I don’t know if he will take the punches as well as he did when he weighed more,’ Ruiz Jr told Sky Sports.
Joshua is already in Saudi Arabia after he arrived on Sunday with his huge entourage in tow.
He wasted no time in getting a good look around the Diriyah Arena, the custom-built 15,000 seat venue that will host the action.
Tickets have been sold to fans across more than 60 countries with the biggest demand from those in the United Kingdom, keen to see Joshua make a winning return to the ring.
The 10,000 square metre site has had up to 175 staff working on it during the construction phase with 350,000 different fixings set up ready for fight night.
Joshua is fighting in a bid to reclaim the WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO belts and set up a unification fight in 2020 with WBC champion Deontay Wilder.
