Rumuosi Flyover traders have been removed from their trading spots by council operatives and police officers in the Rumuosi area of Obio-Akpor Local Government Area, Rivers State.
The operation took place on Thursday, with operatives dismantling trading structures beneath the flyover.
The reason for the action was not immediately clear at the time of this report.
Reports from The Premier News indicate that the operation followed a directive allegedly issued by the Chairman of Obio-Akpor Local Government Area, Dr Gift Worlu.
However, the circumstances surrounding the directive have not been independently confirmed.
The development has affected Rumuosi Flyover traders operating under and around the flyover.
Photographs and videos from the scene showed council officials and police officers at the location as the structures were removed.
It was not immediately clear whether the affected traders had received prior notice of the operation.
Similarly, there was no immediate statement from the local government explaining the reason for the dismantling.
The action comes as local authorities in urban areas across Nigeria continue to regulate roadside trading and structures located on roads and other public spaces.
Meanwhile, further details are expected from the Obio-Akpor council and other relevant authorities.
