Russian Strike Kills Three Near Kharkiv

At least three people have been killed in a Russian attack near Kharkiv, as Ukraine and Russia continued exchanging strikes overnight.

Emergency teams rescued and evacuated eight people from the affected area, with some suffering injuries, according to Kharkiv Governor Oleh Syniehubov. Rescue workers continued searching the area for possible additional casualties.

The latest Ukraine war developments also saw Ukrainian attacks on targets inside Russia. A fire broke out at an Ozon logistics hub in Makhachkala, Dagestan, after a reported Ukrainian attack. Ozon said it temporarily stopped operations at two warehouses in nearby Stavropol and Adygeya during a drone attack alert.

Ukraine has previously targeted facilities linked to Russia’s major online retailers, including Wildberries, which Kyiv has accused of supporting logistics for Russian military forces.

The conflict remains focused on territorial gains in eastern Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelensky warned that Vladimir Putin could seek to recruit 300,000 additional troops from next month. Zelensky said the recruitment drive could begin after Russia’s September elections as Moscow continues efforts to capture the remaining parts of Ukraine’s eastern Donetsk region.
