Ruud van Nistelrooy has officially left Manchester United following his brief four-match tenure as interim manager, the club announced on Monday. The former striker, who joined United earlier this summer, was tasked with leading the team after the dismissal of Erik ten Hag following a defeat to West Ham United.

In a statement, Manchester United praised van Nistelrooy’s contribution, affirming, “Ruud is, and always will be, a Manchester United legend.” The club expressed gratitude for his professionalism and approach during his time in charge, adding that he will always be warmly welcomed at Old Trafford.

During his short tenure, the 48-year-old won three matches and drew one, including a convincing 3-0 victory over Leicester City in his final match on Sunday.

Van Nistelrooy’s departure paves the way for new manager Ruben Amorim, who arrived at Carrington on Monday afternoon and is set to take the reins for his first match against Ipswich Town on November 24.

The club also confirmed that three other coaching staff members—Rene Hake, Jelle ten Rouwelaar, and Pieter Morel—have left the club. The full composition of the men’s first-team coaching staff will be announced in due course.
