The arrival of the AC Milan winger increased the number of players in camp to 22 ahead of the highly anticipated encounter.
Chukwueze missed the Super Eagles’ recent matches, including the Unity Cup and the friendly against Poland, following the death and burial of his mother.
However, the 27-year-old has now linked up with the squad and is expected to participate in the team’s training session later on Friday.
Meanwhile, the Super Eagles travelled to Leiria on Thursday night to continue preparations for the fixture.
Head coach Éric Chelle will hope the return of Chukwueze strengthens his attacking options as the team fine-tunes its plans for the test against Portugal.
The friendly will take place at the Estádio Municipal de Leiria on Wednesday. The match offers another opportunity for Chelle to assess his squad ahead of future competitive fixtures.
