At the 2022 World Cup in Qatar’s Lusail Stadium on Tuesday, Saudi Arabia shocked South American powerhouse Argentina. Lionel Messi and Argentina were the topic of conversation leading up to the game since they were riding a 36-match winning streak, one short of the world record held by Italy.
Within ten minutes, Messi scored his first goal from the penalty spot following a VAR review. But in the second half, Saudi came back with two goals in a five-minute span from Saleh Al-Shehri and Salem Al-Dawsari.
After the first match, Saudi Arabia is in first place in Group C with three points, while Argentina is at the bottom.
