On Sunday morning, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke took the oath of office as the sixth elected governor of Osun State.

Oaths of allegiance and office were administered to Adeleke by the State’s President of the Customary Court at exactly 11:54am in front of a sizable audience of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members, supporters, and guests from all walks of life.

Together with his deputy, Prince Kola Adewusi, he and the state’s Chief Judge, Adepele Ojo, took the oath of office. On June 17, 2022, the Independent National Electoral Commission announced Adeleke as the victor of the Osun governorship race.

Adeleke made the announcement that all state accounts would be frozen during his inaugural address on Sunday. In addition, he stated that the state’s name would now be “Osun State” rather than “The state of Osun.”
