Senate Confirms Board Appointments for Southwest, South-South, and North-Central Development Commissions

The Senate has confirmed the appointments of Chairmen, Managing Directors, Executive Directors, and Board Members for the newly constituted South West, South South, and North Central Development Commissions following the adoption of three committee reports presented during plenary.
The confirmations came after the Senate received and considered the reports of the respective committees tasked with screening the presidential nominees for each commission.
South West Development Commission (SWDC)
The report, presented by Senator Akintunde Yunus Abiodun (Oyo Central), recommended the confirmation of 18 nominees.
Senator Olubunmi Adetunmbi was confirmed as Chairman, with Dr. Charles Akindiji Akinola as Managing Director. Other confirmed members include:
Hon. Bolaji Idris Ariyo (Lagos)
Mr. Joseph Olorunahola (Ekiti)
Hon. Scholastic Omoworare (Osun)
Mr. Oluwamuylwa Olabintan (Ogun)
Dr. Adewinle Martine (Ondo)
Dr. Ibrahim Olalfa, among others.
The executive directors include:
Olusegun Joshua Olufehinti – Projects (Ondo)
Tele Ogunjobi – Finance (Ogun)
Rt. Hon. Funmilayo Tejuosho – Corporate Services (Lagos)
Fatal Ibikunle – Commercial & Environmental Development
Alhaji Lateef Ajijola – Social & Human Capital Development
South South Development Commission (SSDC)
The report was presented by Senator Konbowei Benson Friday (Bayelsa Central), with a total of 18 board members confirmed.
Hon. Chibudom Nwuche (Rivers) was confirmed as Chairman, and Usoro Offiong Akpabio (Akwa Ibom) as Managing Director. Other members confirmed are:
Rt. Hon. Larry Odey (Cross River)
Charles Zuofa (Bayelsa)
Dr. Nkereuwem Ebong (Akwa Ibom)
Engr. Chika Chinda (Rivers)
Barr. Femi Osie, among others.

Tijani Yahaya Kaura – Social & Human Capital Development
Amb. Sony Abang – Corporate Services
Hon. Joseph Ugheoke – Commercial & Environmental Development

North Central Development Commission (NCDC)
The Senate also adopted the report presented by Senator Titus Zam Tartenger (Benue North-West) confirming 19 appointments.
Cosmas T. Akighir (Benue) was confirmed as Chairman, while Tsenyil Cyril Yiltsen (Plateau) was confirmed as Managing Director.

Each commission includes representatives from all six geopolitical zones to ensure national integration and equitable development impact.
Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin commended the thoroughness of the screening process and praised the selections, noting that the composition of each commission reflected national balance and competence.
