Senator Barau Hails President Tinubu for Signing Federal University of Science and Technology, Kabo Bill

The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for assenting to the bill that converts the Federal Polytechnic Kabo to the Federal University of Science and Technology, Kabo, Kano State.

The President’s assent to the bill, along with similar bills establishing universities in Akwa Ibom and Oyo states, was read on the floor of the Senate during Tuesday’s sitting, presided over by Senate President Godswill Obot Akpabio, GCON.

Senator Barau, who sponsored the bill, said the development underscores President Tinubu’s commitment to improving access to higher education and accelerating national development by equipping Nigerian youths with relevant skills.

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau described education as the foundation of societal development.

He said, “Youths are the cornerstones of the development of all societies. The conversion of the Polytechnic to the University of Science and Technology aligns with global best practices. With Nigeria’s large youth population, human capital development is essential for national progress.”

Senator Barau highlighted the importance of training youths in fields such as artificial intelligence, robotics, and cybersecurity, saying institutions like the new university are key to preparing Nigeria for the future.

He congratulated the management, staff, students, and communities of Federal Polytechnic Kabo on the milestone.
