Facility to create jobs, improve access to clean energy in Ikpoba-Okha LGA

Senator representing Edo South Senatorial District, Neda Imasuen, on Monday commissioned a newly established gas plant operated by MGS Oil and Gas in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State.
The facility, located at Kilometre 41, Agbor/Auchi Road Bypass, Ikhuen Obo Community, Ikpoba Hill, is positioned to serve as a key energy distribution hub and is expected to boost access to clean cooking gas while stimulating economic activity in the area.
Addressing guests at the commissioning ceremony, Senator Imasuen said the project aligns with his agenda to deliver people-oriented infrastructure and attract private investment to Edo South.
“This project represents more than just a business venture; it is a commitment to empowering our people, creating jobs, and providing safer, cleaner energy alternatives to the residents of Ikpoba-Okha and beyond,” he stated.
The senator noted that the plant would generate both direct and indirect jobs, support small-scale enterprises dependent on liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), and ease domestic gas supply challenges for households in the region.
Community members, traditional leaders, and local stakeholders, including host Comrade Mathew Odiase Ogbomo, were present at the ceremony and hailed the development as timely and impactful.
Residents commended Senator Imasuen’s leadership and his efforts to attract infrastructure that benefits the grassroots, describing the initiative as a boost to economic growth and energy security in the area.
The plant is the latest in a series of constituency-focused interventions championed by the senator to enhance public-private collaboration and promote sustainable development across Edo South.
