Nollywood actor Shawn Faqua and event planner Sharon Ifunanya Maduekwe have broken new ground in Nigerian wedding culture by exchanging vows aboard a moving Lagos–Ibadan train — the first wedding of its kind in the country.
The couple converted the train coaches into a cinematic wedding venue, complete with floral decor, coordinated bridesmaids and groomsmen, and officiating ministers who conducted the ceremony as the locomotive sped across the Southwest corridor.
The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) celebrated the historic moment in a statement, praising the couple’s originality and adventurous spirit. “From lovebirds to locomotives, we’re keeping things on track. History made, the first-ever wedding on a moving train in Nigeria. Proof that the journey can be just as beautiful as the destination,” the NRC wrote.
The unconventional wedding has since gone viral, igniting excitement across social media as Nigerians applauded the creativity and applauded the disruption of traditional wedding norms.
The ceremony was intimate, attended by close family members, friends and key figures from the entertainment industry.
